HUGOTON — The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs struggled to get their offense going against the Perryton Lady Rangers Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Red and Blue Classic, resulting in a 57-24 blowout win for the Lady Rangers.

The Lady Mustangs fell behind early, scoring a mere four points in the first quarter, and found themselves down by double-digits heading into the second, 14-4.

Heights offensive attack improved in the second quarter, albeit not by much. The Lady Mustangs defense stepped up, allowing only 10 Perryton points and keeping themselves in it heading to halftime, down 11 at 24-13.

The Lady Rangers continued to attack in the second half, and pushed far out ahead of the Lady Mustangs. Heights could not stop the Perryton offense in the second half, and by the end of the third quarter the Lady Mustangs were down 37-17.

With the game far out of reach, the Lady Rangers cruised in the final quarter for the 57-24 win.

Heights will be in action at 3 p.m. today when they take on the Ulysses Lady Tigers.
