Seward County Historical Society presents Christmas Open House

• L&T staff report

Seward County Historical Society’s Christmas Open House is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Open House is a come-and-go event celebrating the opening of the new exhibit “Trains, Trees & Tinsel.”

SCHS’s very own historian Lidia Hook-Gray will be the guest speaker at 2:30 p.m.

“Lidia ‘s exhibit is amazing,” said SCHS Director JoAnne Mansell. “Lidia has such vast knowledge of our history and was instrumental in the renovations of the Rock Island Depot.”

On display, people will find the  mighty Samson of the Cimmaron diorama and Niffyville model train layout engineered by Gary Dearing. Also there will be other Rock Island artifacts.

Don’t miss the chance to win a Cielo 46-inch 3D compatible TV.  Tickets are available for a $10 donation at the museum or from any “Dorothy,” and all proceeds benefit the Historical Society. The drawing will be conducted after Hook-Gray’s presentation.

“The community’s support is appreciated and Dorothy looks forward to seeing you at our Christmas Open House,” Mansell added. “It’s all about Christmas with great refreshments and Holiday cheer.”
