The Hugoton Lady Eagles celebrated a Blue and Red Classic championship Saturday evening, defeating the Hooker Lady Bulldogs 62-57.

The game was tight throughout, and it was the Lady Eagles that took the early edge, leading Hooker 14-13 after one quarter of play.

Hugoton continued to push to try and extend their lead in the second, closing out the first half strong, and heading to the locker room at halftime with a five-point, 31-26 lead.

A big third quarter put the Lady Bulldogs right back in the game, scoring 18 points in the quarter to get back within two heading into the final quarter, trailing 46-44.

In the fourth, Hugoton got back on track, and outscored Hooker 16-13 in the fourth to grab the title with the 62-57 win.

The Lady Eagles’ Amy Scott and Estefani Armendariz were name to the All-Tournament team, and the Lady Bulldogs’ Kyra Cathcart took home tournament MVP honors despite her team falling in the championship game.
