FORGAN, Okla.— It took the Balko Lady Bison a few minutes of game time to get going, but once they did they rolled to a 56-40 win over the Forgan Lady Bulldogs.

Forgan led 6-1 less than three minutes into the game, and seemed poised to challenge the 16th-ranked Lady Bison. But Balko turned up the defensive pressure, and went on a 15-0 run to go up by 10.

“We played awfully well,” Lady Bison coach Mitch Cowan said. “We played good defense tonight.”

Balko led 18-9 at the end of the first quarter, and held Forgan to just one field goal in the second. Balko continued to score in transition after Forgan turnovers, and in the post.

“They just killed us in the post,” Lady Bulldogs coach Brett Trippet said. “We couldn’t stop them.”

Balko moved their lead to double digits again, taking a 28-14 lead into the locker room.

A 17-7 advantage in the third put the Lady Bison up 45-21 heading into the fourth.

Forgan finally seemed to get into gear in the fourth when they began to press Balko. Back-to-back threes by Alex McBee and Nikki Taylor sparked a 19-9 run by the Lady Bulldogs to end the game.

“We didn’t play hard enough in the middle,” Trippet said. “We did at the end, but it was too late.”

Balko was led in scoring by Rylee Stockton with 18 points on 5-14 shooting, including a pair of threes. Madison Dearmin added 16 in the post, and was 6 of 10 from the floor. Kylie Edwards was 6-11 for 12 points.

Forgan’s Nikki Taylor scored 17 on 7 of 18 shooting, with a pair of threes.

As a team Forgan shot just 28 percent, while Balko shot 40 percent.

Both teams now take off for the Christmas break. Balko (6-1) will return to action January 3rd at Beaver. Forgan (2-) will host Follett, Texas January 4th.
