Slater scores 29 as Bobcats escape upset; Bison fall PDF Print E-mail

The Tyrone Bobcats won their opening round game at the Fargo Invitational, but it took all 32 minutes to do so. Tyrone outscored the 4A Clinton JV 18-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win, 58-57.

Willie Slater keyed the Bobcats comeback scoring 10 of his game-high 29 in the fourth quarter, and a total of 19 in the second half. Ethan Reece added 11 points, and Nerlin Rivera 9.

Clinton jumped out to an early lead and led 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. Tyrone had a 14-8 advantage in the second to cut the lead to just one at half, 25-24.

Tyrone fell behind by three in the third, trailing 43-40 heading into the fourth before making their comeback.

Tyorne will take on the winner of Fargo-Freedom tonight at 8:15.

The Balko Bison were also in action, losing to Wesleyen Christian 67-56.

Balko held a 15-9 lead after one quarter, but fell behind in the second and never recovered.

Wyatt Casper led the Bison with 16 points

Balko will take on the Cheyenne JV today.
