ULYSSES – Mary Ellen Grubbs, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Jan. 23, 1930, to Archie Lee and Mabel (Cox) Turner in Grant County.
She married Norman D. Grubbs Sept. 18, 1946, in Ulysses. He died in 2008.
She attended Grant County Rural High School.
She was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses.
She enjoyed family get-togethers, dancing, singing and hummingbirds.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Young and husband, O.D., Ulysses, Pam Lewis and husband, Jim, Jay, Okla., and Debbie Sue Arnold and husband, Jerry, Satanta; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donna Rae Jones; two brothers, John Turner, Pete Tuner; and one sister, Sharon Dumcum.
• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, with the Rev. Kelly Gindlesberger presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
