Giap Van Nguyen, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at his home in Liberal.

He was born Jan. 15, 1935,  to Hein Van Nguyen and Tuyen Thi Nguyen in Quang Ngai, Vietnam.

He married Lu Thi Nguyen in Vietnam. She survives.

He was employed with National Beef Packing Co. for 16 years.

His survivors include one son, Hoang Van Nguyen; three daughters, Phung Thi Nguyen, Khai Thi Nguyen, and Nguyen Thi Nguyen; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Van Van Nguyen.

• Funeral services will be at 9 a.m.Wednesday at Miller Mortuary Chapel.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
