Obituary

Samuel Jackson “Jack” Yowell, 88, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, in Weatherford, Texas.

He was born May 23, 1925,  to James Ovid and Zillah Renner Yowell in Kansas City, Kan.

He was a retired electrician for the railroad and a veteran of the United States Navy and Army.

He was a member of Faith Tabernacle in Liberal.

He enjoyed reading, golf and spending time with his family.

Survivors include son, Jerry Yowell, Edmond, Okla.; step-sons, Mike Novinger, Garden City, Carl Novinger, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Brian Novinger, Omaha, Ark.;  daughter, Jana Hunt, Aledo, Texas, step-daughters, Peggy Glover, Liberal, and Shelley Ballard, Tyrone, Okla.; his sister, Roxy Ann Yowell, Overland Park; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was  preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Yowell, his former wife, Alice Yowell, two sons, Bob Yowell and Jeff “Pynaple” Yowell, his brothers, Jim Yowell, Jerry Yowell, and two sisters, Marilyn Dalsing and Nancy Lee Gibson.

• A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Tabernacle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith Tabernacle, 514 N. Kansas Ave., Liberal, KS 67901.
