Newspapers have no right to publish names of gun owners E-mail

By Gary Marsh, Liberal

I find it a very frightening thing that a newspaper (chain) has chosen to make news rather that report it.

Posting a list of gun owners should be a violation of right to privacy.  They are obviously biased against gun owners and are trying to prejudice others to follow their prejudice against gun owners, not the job for a newspaper.

Report, not make the news.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Mr. Marsh is referring to a Jan. 26 article in the L&T where a national newspaper chain with nearly 100 publications and 1.6 million readers – the North Carolina-based Civitas Media – is considering building “state-by-state databases” on concealed weapons permit holders, according to an internal e-mail.
