The Quilts of Valor ladies are hosting the Quilts of Valor National Sew Day from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, also known as National Freedom Day, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church located at 521 N. Sherman in Liberal.

Organizers are seeking patriotic citizens that want to help make quilts for the nation’s combat service members and veterans.

“The purpose of this holiday is to promote good feelings, harmony and equal opportunity among all citizens and to remember that the United States is a nation dedicated to the idea of freedom,” quilter Peggy Luck said.

Those coming can bring their sewing machines with the power cord and basic sewing supplies, and those without a machine can help with ironing and cutting fabric

“Come eat, sew and laugh,” Luck added.

For more information, call Luck at 624-6413.
