Beginning Thursday, the Liberal Senior Center will make available two new programs for the community. Under an agreement with the SouthWest Kansas Area Agency On Aging (SWKAAA), Dodge City, the senior center will host the Older Kansans Employment Program (OKEP) and the Kansas Health Insurance Navigator Sign-up on the first and third Thursdays of the month.
OKEP is a free service that assists those age 55 and above to find gainful employment. Job searches, resume and cover letter writing, pre-interview counseling, and employer networking are some of the services provided by this program.
Kansas Health Insurance Navigator Program. SWKAAA will also provide free assistance and answer questions concerning the Kansas Health Insurance Navigator program. This is the statewide web based health insurance marketplace where individuals can compare different health care insurance options and purchase affordable insurance for themselves and their families.
SWKAAA representatives will be at the Liberal Senior Center, 701 N. Grant, from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and again on Feb. 20. Walk-ins are welcome or people can call SWKAAA at 1-800-742-9531 and make an appointment during that time.
“We are fortunate to be able to partner with the Liberal Senior Center on these two programs and appreciate their willingness to host them” according to Dave Geist, SWKAAA Executive Director.
