Dylan Thompson single-handedly kept the West Warriors in the game against Comanche Tuesday.
The seventh grader made three three-pointers, scored 13 points in regulation and added four more in overtime to lead West to a 29-26 win.
Neither team started quickly in the defensive battle, and the Coyotes were able to take a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.
Thompson made up the deficit in one shot in the second quarter, and the Warriors rallied to take an 11-7 lead at halftime.
Thompson was the only Warrior to score in the third quarter, but he was able to drain two more three-pointers and add a basket to help West jump out to a 29-14 lead.
Comanche rallied in the fourth, knocking down a three of their own while the Warriors struggled at the free throw line. West had eight free throw opportunities in the final quarter and missed all of them. Cesar Burciaga was the only Warrior to score, and by the end of regulation the game was tied 21-21.
In overtime, West again found themselves at the free throw line 16 times, and this time they made eight of them, for by Thompson, while Comanche only managed two baskets and a free throw, and West claimed the overtime win, 29-26.
