Jake Regier and Rhett Radcliff combined to score 45 points, more than the Fargo Bearcats entire team as Forgan remained undefeated in the state of Oklahoma with a 58-42 win in the regional championship.
“They had a real good game plan,” said Bulldogs coach Todd Kerr. “ They slowed the game down, spread us out and got us in foul trouble.”
For the Bulldogs the winning spread came early and then another late. Forgan jumped out to a 13-7 lead after one.
Fargo was able to get Tanner Jones and both Radcliffs in foul trouble early.
Fargo cut into the Buldogs lead by two in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs still lead 27-23 at the half.
Forgan added a little more cushion outscoring Fargo 16-13 in the third to lead 43-36 heading to the final period.
“Midway through the third we finally regained our composure,” said Kerr. “We played some zone defense because of our foul trouble. I thought we were very efficient in the second half.”
The Bulldogs put the game out of reach in the fourth, outscoring the Bearcats 15-6 on their way to a 58-42 win.
Jake Regier led all scorers with 27 points; Rhett Radcliff added 18, and Tyler McReynolds 7.
No.2 Forgan improves to 25-1 and will face No.10 Timberlake in the Area championship Friday night at 8 p.m. in Woodward. The winner advances to the state tournament, while the loser will have one more chance to make it to state Saturday.
