MEADE – Joyce D. Wittman, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita.
She was born March 1, 1934, to Joseph and Blanche (Morgan) Schrott in LaCrosse.
She married Robert E. Wittman May 15, 1955, in LaCrosse. He survives.
As a young girl she attended grade school in a rural country school in Nekoma. She later graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1951.
She worked as an X-ray technician for Meade District Hospital for many years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Meade.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing softball in her younger years, and dancing.
She is also survived by a son, Kelly Wittman, rural Meade; a grandson, Alec Wittman, rural Meade; and many nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Buddy and Charles Schrott.
• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Meade, with the Rev. Diana Stewart presiding.
Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to Meade District Hospital or Harry Hynes Hospice in care of the funeral home.
