Kermit L. Nipple, 64, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 14, 1949, to Lester and Rose (Downing) Nipple in Hardner.
He married Janice Hill Dec. 31, 1974, at the First Christian Church in Liberal. She survives.
He was a graduate of Moscow High School in 1967 and also a graduate of a culinary college in Ottawa.
He was a chef at the Liberal Country Club, Chuckwagon, Liberal Inn and other local restaurants.
In 1989, he purchased the 2nd Street Book Store in Liberal.
Other survivors include four brothers, Stanley Nipple and wife, Bonnie, Liberal, Fredrick Nipple and wife, Diantha, Alamosa, Colo., Donald Napell and wife, Janice, Hays, and Cary Alexander and wife, Muriel, Hays; and many nieces and nephews.
• Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Moscow Methodist Church with Tim McCrary presiding.
Cremation will follow the service.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
