2013 Miss Kansas voted No. 1 for People’s Choice Award at Miss America Pageant

Theresa Vail will be coming to Liberal to participate in the Miss Liberal Pageant.
Vail was crowned Miss Kansas 2013 on June 8, 2013, at the Miss Kansas Pageant in Pratt.
She was voted Miss America’s No. 1 People’s Choice, and was a Top 10 Finalist at the Miss America Pageant last September in Atlantic City, N.J.
Vail’s platform issue is “Empowering women: Overcoming stereotypes and breaking barriers.”
She is currently a senior at Kansas State University in Manhattan, which is also her hometown. She’s carrying a 3.8 GPA and majoring in Chinese.
Theresa joined the Kansas Army National Guard when she was 17, and she is an expert marksman for the Army with the M16 rifle. Theresa is also a Distinguished Honor Graduate at the Army School of Ordnance. She was responsible for 250 soldiers for nine weeks at mechanics school, and she coordinated and ran an all-girls archery clinic.
She also developed an Empowerment Project for women and has consecutively earned the Army physical fitness award and received the Soldier of the Month award.
Other honors include National Society of Collegiate Scholars, member of KSU Parachute Club and KSU Dental Club. Theresa has also completed 10 hours towards her private pilot’s license.
Theresa is one of nine children. She states “This is not a position for selfish motives, but one of selfless giving. It’s about representing the Miss America Organization as a whole.”
Vail will be pursuing her dental surgery doctorate degree and will serve as a dentist for the Army.
