The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs had 21 turnovers which proved to be too costly as the Elkhart Lady Wildcats prevailed with a 57-51 win.

Elkhart grabbed an early lead, 13-8 in the first quarter. Each team scored 10 in the second to leave the margin at five (23-18) at the half.

Elkhart extended their lead by outscoring Heights 20-16 in the third to take a 43-34 lead into the final stanza.

The Lady Mustangs cut into the Lady Wildcats lead with a 17-14 advantage in the fourth, but could not make up the rest of the difference.

Heights finished the game 16 of 56 from the field, and11 of 22 from the free throw line.

Nayelly LaPoint led the Lady Mustangs with 21 points on a night when she made just 7 of 20 shots from the field. LaPoint also grabbed eight boards.

Jackie Loya nailed three threes on her way to 11 points, five steals, and 14 rebounds. Laci Rush added 7.

Heights (9-10) will take on Cimarron Thursday in what will be the final home game of legendary coach Barry Mellen.
