Obituary

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Gerald LeRoy Riffe, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at the Veterans Center in Claremore, Okla.

He was born April 29, 1916, to Harry G. and Myrtle Waltman Riff in Tyrone, Okla.

He married Helen Bonner Oct. 4, 1941. She survives.

He graduated from Tyrone High School in 1934. He attended the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

He worked for Gulf Research Company. He served in the Navy Sea Bees in World War II. He and his brother, George, operated the Riffe and Gilmore Grain Elevators.

He was a deacon at Tyrone Baptist Church and taught Sunday school to adults and young adults.

Other survivors include one son, Judge Gerald H. Riffe and wife, Laura, Beaver, Okla.; their children, Joseph Riff, Anna Riffe, Stephen Riffe and Elizabeth Riffe; daughter, Regina Battle and husband, Dr. John Battle, Claremore; their children, Dr. Justin Battle and wife, Stephanie, and Mindy Jones and husband, Jimmy.

o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Tyrone Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Stone presiding.

Burial will be at the Tyrone Cemetery.
