L&T staff report

Barry Mellen may not remember the final score of his final home game, but he will remember the night.

The Lady Mustangs lost to Cimarron 54-29, but Mellen was greeted by 45 of his former players who wanted to come back and wish their former coach well as he prepares for retirement.

Jackie Loya led the Lady Mustangs with 16 points, but the Lady Mustangs never posed a threat to the Lady Blue Jays.

Cimarron jumped out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter, and Southwestern heights trailed 31-11 at half.

The Lady Mustangs put together their best scoring effort in the third with 11 points, but it still fell short of Cimarron’s 14. The Lady Blue Jays outpaced Heights 9-7 in the fourth for the 54-29 win.

Heights finished the regular season 9-10.
