The Turpin Cardinals opened the baseball season at Gruver, Texas with a 4-2 loss and an 11-0 loss to the Greyhounds.
“We had our changes in the first game just didn't hit the ball when we needed too,” Cardinals coach Mario Mendoza said. “A lot of correctable errors, but its the first of the season.”
Turpin trailed 2-0 heading into the third, but was able to knot the game with a pair of runs in the top half of the inning.

Neither team could muster any scoring the rest of the way.

Musgrave took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits.
Gruver dominated Game 2 with 6 runs in the first and four more in the second. The game ended after just three innings because of the run-rule.
