Police have found the two individuals allegedly involved in a stabbing that took place this past weekend.

Around 9:50 p.m. Friday, officers with the Liberal Police Department responded to Southwest Medical Center for a report of two victims of knife wounds, according to a report from Liberal Police Capt. Pat McClurg.

“Responding officers contacted a 36-year-old male and a 37-year-old male with apparent injuries,” the release said.

McClurg said investigators learned about an altercation that had occurred at 902 S. Washington.

“Both victims received lacerations during the altercation and were treated at Southwest Medical Center,” he said. “Their injuries were not life-threatening.”

McClurg later issued a second press release stating the suspects were located around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop at Second and Kansas in Liberal.

The first is Junior Sanchez, a 21-year-old male, who is about 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds and has black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on both forearms.

The second individual is Desirae Wood, a 21-year-old female. She is about 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 100 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

McClurg said two other adults were apprehended at the time of the traffic stop without incident.

“Investigators have arrested a 21-year-old male, a 21-year-old female and an 18-year-old male in connection with the stabbing,” he said. “Affadavits will be filed with the Seward County Attorney for the determination of formal charges.”

McClurg said the investigation is ongoing.

“Any person that might have information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Liberal Police Department at 620-626-0150 or the crime hotline at (620-624-4000,” the captain said. “Persons that provide information leading to the arrest of those responsible for this crime are eligible for a reward.”
