Nellie Lucille Wilson, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Liberal Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1918, to James H. and Cora J. (Gouge) Ellington in Tupelo, Okla.
She married Woodrow “Woody” Wilson April 23, 1939, in Liberal. He died April 12, 1992.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1936 and attended Fort Hays State College.
She and her husband owned Panhandle Furniture Co. In 1954, they purchased Fleener Furniture Store and named it Wilson Furniture Store operating it for 35 years. She also worked at Southwest Medical Center for 15 years as the executive housekeeper.
She was a member of the Church For All Nations.
She was a past member of the Kansas Hospital Housekeepers Association where she served on the board of directors and also served as state treasurer and state program chairman.
Survivors include two sons, J.B. “Bennie” Wilson, Liberal, and Dan W. Wilson and wife, Karelyn, Kechi, three daughters, Cinda Lou Garrison and husband, Dennis, Lawrence, Janeen Brown and husband, Ernest, Wakeeney, and Ann Lucille Shaeffer, Lincoln, Neb.; one brother, William “Bill” Ellington, Groom, Texas; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant grandson, Stephen Wilson, and one brother, Kie Ellington.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Church For All Nations (formerly Christian Life Center) with pastors Ken Willard and Darren Metcalf presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
