Reports of gunshots Saturday afternoon in South Liberal led to a narcotics arrest, according to Liberal Police Capt. Patrick McClurg.

“On Saturday, at about 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 100 block of south Western (Avenue),” McClurg noted in a Monday statement. “Witnesses at the scene were able to provide information that enabled officers to identify the suspect.

“There were no injuries reported and no damage was located at the scene,” he added.

The alleged suspect, a 24-year-old male, was later located and arrested in the 100 block of Harold Boulevard, according to McClurg’s report.

“A subsequent search revealed evidence of the shooting, as well as a quantity of narcotics,” McClurg noted. “An affidavit has been forwarded to the Seward County Attorney’s Office for filing formal charges.”

McClurg did not idenitify the suspect.
