FOWLER – William J. "Bill" Bergkamp, 74, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Fowler Residential Care Center.
He was born November 20, 1939, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Henry Gerhard and Blanche (Steffan) Bergkamp.
He married Rita J. Hayden on Sept. 6, 1958 in Dodge City. She survives.
After his education, he began his farming career and remained a lifetime resident of the Fowler Community.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed shooting sports, firearms, electronics, aviation, and visiting with his family and friends.
Survivors include sons: Donald Bergkamp, Fowler, Edward Bergkamp, Oklahoma City and Joseph Bergkamp, Fowler; daughters: Sharon Glenn and husband Randy, Garden City, Loretta Robbins and husband Wylie, Eustis, Neb., and Barbara Turley and husband Bill, Mora, Minn.; sister, Aldine Maier, Duncan, Okla.; six grandchildren: Bart Robbins, Shane Robbins, Drew Glenn, Cassandra Glenn Gonzales and husband Jacob, Christopher Bergkamp, and Kimberly Bergkamp.
• Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fowler.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the church.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
Burial will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
