PLAINS – Richard L. “ Rick” Cox, 52, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Oct. 29, 1961, to James Paul and Mary (Eakes) Cox in Meade.
As a young boy he attended school at St. Patrick’s Catholic school and later Plains High School.
In 1980 he joined the United States Army serving until 1982. After his discharge, he began his career in the retail grocery business.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
He enjoyed gardening, playing BINGO, assisting the elderly, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother; brother, Michael Cox, McPherson; sisters, Carolyn Wilcox, Sublette and Marilyn Labra, Valley Center; and stepsister, Barbara Rouse, Dodge City.
He is preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Leonard Friesen; and brother, James “Jim” Cox
• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Plains Cemetery.
Burial will follow in the Plains Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church building fund in care of the funeral home.
