Obituary

HUGOTON – Leila Rosslyn Pate, 88, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

She was born July 2, 1921, to Ross Elmer and Bertha Jane (Wilson) in Stevens County.

She married Merle Eldon Pate Aug. 21, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He died Sept. 13, 1993.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary, both of Hugoton.

Survivors include two sons, John M. Pate, Hugoton, and James M. Pate, and wife, Joni, Jasper, Texas; one daughter, Leisa R. Cunningham and husband, Jack, LaPorte, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Merle Lee Pate, two brothers, John Everett Taylor and Ross Lynn Taylor, three sisters, Dorothy Frances Sykes, Evelyn Elzora Fanoele and Phyllis Kay Grewell, and one grandson, Adam Pate.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Hugoton with Pastor Larry Bradford presiding.

Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Paul’s Funeral Home.
