ULYSSES – Arlene J. McGillivray, 82, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born May 3, 1931 to Bill and Mabel (Kinsman) Kiistner in Garden City.

She married Gerald Douglas McGillivray on July 2, 1950 in Ulysses.

She graduated from Grant County Rural High School.

She was a sales clerk for Kep’s Toggery, and a bookkeeper for Webber Supply and the ASCS office.

She enjoyed attending her children’s activities including ballgames, swim meets, and scout events.

She was an avid fan of KU basketball, and enjoyed traveling to see her family.

She is survived by sons: William McGillivray and wife Katherine, Lawrence, Kelly McGillivray and wife Mary Ann, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steve McGillivray, Overland Park; daughters, Sandy Coffindaffer and husband Hardy, Ulysses, and Shelly Thrailkill and husband Nola, Bonanza, Ark.; ten grandchildren: Chad Coffindaffer, Beau Coffindaffer,  Clay McGillivray, Scott McGillivray, Misty Thrailkill, Kendra Thrailkill, Brock Thrailkill, Damian Thrailkill, Brad Rogers and Ann Jacob; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Doug in 1974.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger presiding.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
