PLAINS—The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs swept their doubleheader with Scott City in run-rule fashion, 12-2 and 16-6.
In Game 1, Heights took control early scoring three runs in the first, four in the second and four in the third to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
Heights closed the game out in the bottom of the fifth with a run that gave the Lady Mustangs the run-rule win.
Viancy Jimenez led the Lady Mustangs offense going 2-3 with a double, 5 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Danielle Sanchez finished the game 2-3 with three RBI and a triple. Celia Sanchez was 2-3 with a walk, three runs scored, and RBI and a stolen base. Kiana Collins was also 2-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Sara Eakes scored four runs.
Lexi Stark went the distance on the mound, giving up just four hits, one walk, and only one earned run while collecting two strikeouts.
In Game 2, Scott City scored two runs in the top of the first and still led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the second. Heights' offense exploded for nine runs to blow the game wide open.
Heights continued to add to their lead with two in the third, three in the fourth to go up 14-3.
Scott City tried to stay alive with three in the top of the fifth, but Heights ended the game by run-rule with two runs in the bottom half of the fifth.
Danielle Sanchez went 3-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs scored. Diana Carillo was 2-3 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs scored. Dakoda Cox was 2-4 with three runs scored; Viancy Jimenez was 1-2 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored.
Dakoda pitched three innings, allowing seven hits, one walk, and no earned runs with one strikeout. Sara Eakes pitched two innings, giving up six hits, two walks, and two earned runs with one strikeout.
Heights (5-3) will play at Satanta today.
