BEAVER, Okla. – Joe W. "JW" Caldwell, 88, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Okla.

He was born April 10, 1926 to James and Vergie (Foster) Caldwell in Dombey, Okla.

He married Shirley Henage Aug. 23, 1953 in Liberal. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2005.

He was a graduate of Turpin High School, class of 1946.

He had a career with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in the Gas Industry and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed farming & ranching, fishing, the OU Sooners and his family.

He was a member of Turpin Masonic Lodge and theTurpin United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Caldwell and wife Johnna, Turpin, Okla. and Dee Caldwell of Piedmont, Ala.; brother, Jimmie Caldwell; two sisters, Veta Colvin and Joann Potter; four granddaughters: Shawna Stewart, Mindy James, Misti Hall, and Angela Martin; one grandson: Casey Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Monte Caldwell; brother, Dutch Caldwell; and two sisters, Coeta Caldwell and Doneta Sparks.

• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Turpin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Bergmann presiding.

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, May 2, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Turpin United Methodist Church in care of Miller Mortuary.
