ULYSSES – Maria Del Rosario (Chayo) Degollado, 46, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Sept. 8, 1967 to Francisco and Lucila (Sanchez) Arevalo in Matehuala SLP Mexico.
She married Alfredo Degollado on Dec. 8, 1987. He survives.
She was a kindergarten teacher. She also loved caring for kids and operated a day care.
She was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
She enjoyed sewing and watching movies.
She is also survived by three sons: Alfredo Degollado Jr., Rodrigo Degollado, and Alejandro Degollado, all of Ulysses; daughter, Nayeli Degollado, Ulysses; mother, Lucila Arevalo of Matehuala SLP Mexico; five brothers: Roberto Arevalo, Arturo Arevalo, Francisco Arevalo Jr., Miguel Angel Arevalo, and Cesar Arevalo, all of Mexico; three sisters: Emma Arevalo, Trinidad Arevalo, both of Mexico, and Dora Degollado, Ulysses; and one grandson, Alfredo Degollado III.
She was preceded in death by her father.
• Vigil service will be Friday, May 9, 2014 at 7 p.m. and funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Peter Fernandez presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday, May 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
