ULYSSES – Fermin Ascencio Sr., 42, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his home in rural Seward County.

He was born Oct. 28, 1971  to Dario and Petra (Gutierrez) Ascencio in Agua Negra Guanajuato, Mexico.

He married Hortencia Martinez in April 1997 in Liberal. She survives.

He worked for various construction companies specializing in building and concrete work.

Survivors also include his parents; four sons: Pedro Ascencio, Turpin, Okla., Angel Ascencio, Turpin, Okla., Fermin Ascencio Jr., Turpin, Okla., and Sergeo Martinez, Liberal; two daughters, Selena Martinez, Liberal, and Aracely Ascencio, Liberal; four brothers: Miguel Ascencio, Esteban Ascencio, Ignacio Ascencio and Benedito Ascencio; three sisters: Silvia Ascencio, Maria Ascencio and Eva Ascencio; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Martin Ascenio, Manuel Ascencio, and an infant brother.
