The first day of competition at the 1A-2A Oklahoma State Track Meet saw several area athletes qualify for finals and others score points in the few finals completed.

In 2A, Hooker boys’ 4 x 800 meter relay team had the highest finish in any finals taking second place. The girls’ 4 x 800 meter relay finished fourth. Jessica Ugarte qualified fourth in the 400 meters.

In 1A, Beaver’s Andrew Jesko and Melissa Chavez each finished seventh in the boys and girls 3200 meters, respectively. The Beaver boys’ 4 x 800 meter relay team finished sixth. Madison Cates qualified seventh for the 100 meter hurdle finals.

The Turpin boys team’s 4 x 100 meter relay qualified sixth. Brad Alba qualified second in the 300 meter hurdles and eighth in the 110 hurdles. Matt Young qualified seventh in the 100, and Trevor Mote qualified for the finals of the 200 with the eighth best time.

Turpin girls’ Annalyn Kirkhart qualified third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Trista Watson qualified third in the 400.
