Seward stranded an unlucky 13 runners against Hutchinson in the Region VI Super Regional Friday, and after a four-run rally in the ninth, Seward came up one run short, 8-7.

J.B. Olson gave the Saints a chance, scattering four runs over five and two-thirds innings. After having an early 3-1 lead, the Saints trailed 4-3 when Olson was relieved.

The Blue Dragons were able to chip away at the Seward bullpen and added a run in the seventh and three in the eighth to take an 8-3 lead.

But the Saints put together their best offensive inning by taking advantage of a Hutchinson error, a walk and a single to load the bases with no outs in the ninth.

Brandon Uriquizo pinch hit two-RBI double to left center. Mason Marshall followed with an RBI double to left.

After a strike out, Reed Thompson hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Uriquizo, and with two outs and the tying run at second, Bryson Allen hit a deep fly to left that was caught, and the rally ended.

Seward faced Butler Saturday, and the winner remained alive while the loser’s season was over.
