Sunday’s 7-6 loss to Garden City in an elimination game at the Region VI Super Regional ended Seward’s season with two one-run losses.
The Saints dropped the first game of the Super Regional to Hutchinson, 8-7, and then rebounded for an 8-7 win over Butler.
Sunday, after a four hour rain delay, the Saints faced Garden City at Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita, and after jumping out to a 5-2 lead in the fourth, the Saints lost 7-6.
Garden City trailed 5-2 in the fourth but scored tice to cut the lead to one.
Seward jumped back to a 6-4 lead in the top of the sixth, but in the bottom of the seventh, Garden City tied the game with two more runs.
Neither team scored until the bottom of the ninth when reliever Adam Guay walked the lead-off batter Nolan Barrientos, and after a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, Garden City had the winning run at third base with two outs.
Jaxon Mohr hit a single to left field, Barrientos scored, and the season was over for the Saints.
Seward ended the season with a 32-29 record.
