The Liberal tennis team traveled to Arkansas City Saturday for the Class 5A regional tennis tournament, but there were no Redskin qualifiers for the state tournament.

“The Redskins did gain respect from eastern powerhouse teams,” Liberal coach Bret Irby said.

Buddy Buchanan led his first match 3-2 before losing to Bishop Carroll.

Grant and Mitchell Irby took fifth seed Bishop Carroll to a second set tie breaker before falling 7-6 in No. 1 doubles.

Sergio Borjas, Ho Ho, and Carlos Hernandez came up short.

“All athletes carried themselves well and were excellent ambassadors for their school,” Irby said.
