LIBERAL – Donald “Don” Tomlin 88, died Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
He was born June 17, 1925 to Lyman and Lillian (Taylor) Tomlin in Wanette, Okla.
He graduated from Wanette High School in 1943.
In June of 1943 he enlisted in the US Army and served in WWII stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines and was discharged in January 1946. In September of 1946 he enrolled at the University of Kansas and graduated in 1950.
In December 1950 he joined the US Air Force and served during the Korean War Conflict until December 1954.
After his discharge from the US Air Force he was employed as a staff accountant with Barlett Settle & Edgerle of Hutchinson.
In 1967 he was transferred to Liberal, KS to help establish a branch office. In 1973 the branch office was sold and became Godfrey & Hay Chartered and which is now Hay Rice and Associates Charted.
After his retirement he continued to work part time for many years.
Survivors include several nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Edward Tomlin; sisters, Margaret Tomlin and Delores Clarkson.
• Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Odle presiding.
Burial will take place at later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, Kansas 67901.
