An ongoing narcotics investigation resulted in the arrest of two teenagers Wednesday afternoon in south Liberal, according to a statement released Thursday afternoon by Liberal Police Capt. Pat McClurg.
“On Wednesday … at about 4:30 p.m., investigators conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of S. Pennsylvania Avenue in the furtherance of an ongoing narcotics investigation,” McClurg noted. “The warrant was served by the Liberal Police Department Special Response Team.”
Liberal’s SRT is similar to other cities’ SWAT squads, specially trained officers for special law enforcement activities.
The search turned up a significant quantity of marijuana and cash, McClurg reported.
“And a firearm was seized,” he added.
McClurg noted two teens were taken into custody as a result of the search.
“Two 18-year-old males were taken into custody without incident,” he reported. “Affidavits will be sent to the Seward County Attorney for the determination of formal charges.”
