The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs softball team won one and lost one at their 3A regional at Cheney. Heights opened with a 15-0 win over Belle Plains, but was eliminated with a 15-5 loss to Lakin.
In Game 1, Heights took complete control of the game with 11 runs in the first inning. Another four runs in the third inning ended the game.
The Lady Mustangs banged out nine hits, and took advantage of nine walks and two errors.
Lexi Stark allowed just one hit, one walk, and struck out four.
Viancy Jimenez was 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. Kiana Collins was 2-2 with a double and a run scored. Rachel Amerin was 1-1 with a double and a run scored. Sara Eakes was 2-2 with a walk, and three runs scored. Maria Gutierrez and and Lexi Stark each scored two runs.
In Game 2, Heights struggled in the field, committing seven errors in a 15-5 loss to Lakin.
Lakin's offense was steady and relentless, scoring three or more runs in every inning. Heights got one run up in the first but trailed 7-1 after two innings.
The Lady Mustangs put three runs up in the third but Lakin extended their lead with five runs in the bottom half.
Heights added a run in the fourth, but could not get the rally they needed, ending the game after four and a half innings by run rule.
Danielle Sanchez was 2-3 with two RBI. Viancy Jimenez was 2-2 with two runs scored. Maria Gutierrez was 1-1with a run scored and a stolen base. Sara Eakes was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Diana Carillo was 1-2 with a triple and a run scored.
Heights ends the season 14-9.
