Bill Wayne Bridges, 79, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
He was born Aug. 21, 1934, to Ottis and Eunice Beatrice (Westbrook) Bridges in Deport, Texas.
He married Barbara Ann French on June 5, 1955, in Guymon, Okla. She survives.
He attended school in Guymon, graduating with the Class of 1954.
He worked for Homer and Kappy Holland in the dry cleaning business. He then went to work for GTE, where he received the Man of the Year award for the Southwest Division. He then worked for PTSI before he retired at the age of 70.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was in charge of the television ministry.
He was involved in broadcasting the Pioneer Days Parade, the Christmas Parade and many other local activities.
He was a Guymon volunteer fireman, and was the first recipient of the Fireman of the Year award.
Survivors also include brothers, William Milton Bridges and wife, Pat, Garden City and Ottis Charles Bridges and wife, Cheryln, Wichita; sister, Mary Ruth Upchurch and husband, John, Amarillo, Texas; nieces, Janine Perry, Guymon, Kayleen Way and husband, Shawn, Longview, Texas, and Anita Thornburg and husband, Kevin, Hooker, Okla.; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father- and mother-in-law, Jeff and Esther French.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Michael Carter and the Rev. Odie Nunley presiding.
Burial with Fireman Honors will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
