By Steve Groves of Liberal

Recently, I had to make a trip out of town to get an item that I needed for a repair. This item wasn’t even available online to order. I would have to travel to Wichita to get this item.

I happened to find out this item was available at Menard’s in Garden City. When I arrived in Garde City, I got  a big surprise at all the new businesses going on in Garden City: Hobby Lobby, PetCo and Dick’s Sporting Goods, just to name a few. Even an Old Chicago food chain was there.

Now a person doesn’t have to travel to Amarillo or Wichita to shop. Why can’t Liberal get with the program and get some businesses like these? Even if new dining places would come in, I would still patronize the places I do now; like The Pancake House, Ruffino’s and Bob’s Diner just to name a few.

Liberal really needs to open up to new businesses.
