L&T staff report

The Cimarron River Rattler 10-and-under team had to force the if game and win it to earn the District 1 championship Monday.

After losing to SPIAA 10-9 earlier in the tournament, the Rattlers knocked off SPIAA 19-10 Monday.

That forced the final game, and the Rattlers won 14-4.

The win qualified the Rattlers for the state tournament that begins Friday in Fort Scott.

The Rattlers will open the state tournament against the host Fort Scott team at 7 p.m. Friday.

The winner will play the winner of the Wellington/West Wild Card at 4 p.m. Saturday. The loser will play the loser of the Wellington/West Wild Card at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The tournament will continue through Monday with an 11 a.m. championship game and an “if necessary” game at 1:30 p.m.
