Daily Leader staff report
Two Lady Redskins earned All Western Athletic Conference first team honors for basketball.
Justice Norah was named to the All-WAC team as a sophomore. Norah led the team in scoring this season and averaged more than 20 points per game. Norah made the All-WAC team in her first year as a varsity player.
Norah will return next season to lead a group of Lady Redskins who was one game short of making a return trip to the state tournament.
Payton was recognized as an All-WAC player in her senior season. Payton set the record as the all-time leading three-point shooter for the Lady Redskins. Throughout her career, she was able to end opponents’ runs with a three-pointer or to spark the Lady Redskins with a long-distance shot.
The combination of Payton and Norah created difficulties for defenses all season. Norah had the ability to cut to the basket and outrun opponents down the floor on the fast break, and Payton provided the pinpoint accuracy from downtown while being able to cross-cut the lane and drop in the floaters.
With the inside-outside combo, the Lady Redskins put together a 12-10 season.
