Calvin E. Smith, 89, died July 13, 2014 at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis S. Henderson Smith in Liberal.

He attended school in the Hardesty area.

He entered the U.S. Navy during WWII serving aboard ship during the Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii.

He married Betty Pauline Nusz on Dec. 21, 1947 in Enid, Okla.

He worked on the county road crew at Texas County for twenty six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Perry and Melvin

Survivors include his wife; and brother, Gene Smith, California.

• Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Hardesty Community Church with the Rev. Jack Cornell presiding.

Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Okla.
