Erna Edna Brown, 96, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born Oct. 26, 1917 to Peter and Elizabeth (Peters) Enns in Chinook, Mont.
She married Marlin Brown on Sept. 4, 1938 in Liberal. He preceded her in death.
She and her husband farmed for many years in the Wide Awake area west of Liberal.
She also worked at Anthony's and Panhandle Eastern in Liberal until moving to Hobbs, N.M. where she sold real estate for 10 years.
She enjoyed walking, snooker, cooking, gardening, church and working.
She was a member many clubs and organizations including the Mariam Tuck Circle, JUG Club (Just Us Girls), 4-H Wide Awake Club, McArthur Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church Sunday School Class and the Home Demonstration Unit.
She was also active in the First Baptist Missionary Circle.
Survivors also include sons, Gerald Brown and wife, Marjorie, Ardmore, Okla. and Donald Brown and wife, Cherie, Rapid City, S.D.; grandson, Patrick Brown and wife, Stacey, Rapid City, S.D.; granddaughter, Saundra Shaw and husband, Barry, of Rapid City, S.D.; four great-grandchildren: Kelli Shaw, Leigh Shaw, Justin Brown and Alana Brown, all of Rapid City, S.D.; stepsister, Sylvia Krieger and husband, Norbert, O'Neal, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather and stepmother, Henry and Elsie Neufeld Enns; granddaughter and great grandson, Betty Jo Brown and son Jonathan; three half-sisters: Leona Fortner, Violet Heaton and Ruby Mehl; and half-brothers, Johnny Enns and Alvin Enns.
• Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Loren Robinson presiding.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Liberal.
