ULYSSES – John Edwin Hindman, 66, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born May 9, 1948 to Everett and Beulah (Powell) Hindman in Fowler.
He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1966.
He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1967 until 1972. He was stationed in Las Vegas, Korea and Japan.
John was a Gas Plant Operator for Williams Field Service and a mechanic at National Beef.
He was very knowledgeable about airplanes, enjoyed fishing, car racing, camping, and playing the lottery.
He was a member of the College Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother; sons, Lonny Hindman, Shawnee, Okla. and Christopher Hindman, Garden City; daughter, Laura Hindman, Shawnee, Okla.; sisters, Kathy Hagerman, Barbara Chinn and Patricia Henley; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Sam Bynum presiding.
