The next yard of the week is 640 Edwards, and it is just too sweet to miss. The residence is owned by Brian and Diane Hensley, and they bought the property in 1980. They removed large junipers in the front of the house after they became too large. In this bed, Diane planted blue salvia, miniature roses, lantana, zinnias and dusty miller. She has accented the area with cute rustic articles which carry out an Americana theme. These items also show up on the front porch which draws your eye to the front door. Continuing along the side of the front is a large planting bed. This area has a big variety of plant material including mums, sunflowers, rose moss, vinca, purple and red salvia, veronicas, obedient plants, daylilies and coral bells. Diane certainly has a love for plants and she uses every inch in her planting beds. They have planted a variety of trees on their property – ash, mimosa, catalpa, maple and Cleveland pear. Around the mail box is a raised brick planter where potato vine, rose moss, geraniums, lantana and asparagus fern share the space. Under a group of trimmed junipers is a number of benches and chairs, and this area has become the neighborhood conversation spot. Next to this area is a small bed planted with ponytail grass, salvias and angelonia. This residence is certainly worth the effort to locate. All of the showy plants and the rustic objects will put on a worthwhile show for the visitor. Courtesy photo
