Many fans of the popular TV show “Family Feud” will soon be able to experience a live version during the Five State Fair.

‘Fabulous’ Family Feud will be on Saturday, Aug. 2 and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will be hosted by David Lewis.

“We saw him in Topeka and we thought it would be fun to have something like that for the crowd,” Jennifer Malin, president of the Five State Fair board, said. “It’s just like the TV show.”

There will be four games played during the allotted time and so requires eight teams of five to participate. So far there is only one team signed up for the game, which Malin admits is due to her forgetting to put the application on the Five State Fair website.

“People kept saying on Facebook ‘we’ve signed up for the Farmers’ Olympics, we’ve signed up for the Not-So-Newlywed Game but we can’t sign up for Fabulous Feud’ but I thought ‘it’s on there, I know it is’ so I went on there and looked but no it wasn’t on there,” Malin admitted. “We’ve had a lot of calls on it and a lot of interest but no one’s physically come forward or called yet to say – well, one team has – to say ‘we’re in.’ We need seven more teams.”

Those who do wish to sign up need only get their teams of five together and call the fair board phone number at 620-482-6100, give Malin a team name and they’’ll then officially be signed up.

With this being the first year the board has had ‘Fabulous’ Family Feud on the fair’s schedule, Malin said she hopes everthing turns out well.

“We just want people to have fun. And that’s why we’re bringing in things like this and bringing back the Not-So-Newlywed Game. We just want community involvement and we want people to come out and just have fun, that’s our ultimate goal,” Malin said. “If we hear people talk about how much fun they had and stuff like that, that’s all we want. We want the community to come back out like it used to and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
