John Alvin Kennedy, 84, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Ranchwood Care Center in Yukon, Okla.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1929, to John Clifford and Edna Payne McAdams Kennedy in Campo, Colo.
He married Ruby Koehn on July 20, 1952, in Kismet. She survives.
He attended Block School and later Hooker, Okla. schools.
He was a mechanic for Voiles Ford and Hodges Ford in Hooker and then the Ford garage in Liberal. He also helped his father farm.
He was a member of the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, where he was a past head usher.
He was a member of the Good Sam Motor Club.
Survivors also include son, Jerry Kennedy and Patty, Hooker; daughters, Renata Gawith and Paul, Vancouver, Wash., and Janita Whipple, Yukon; sisters, Iva Franke, Liberal, and Ellen Monroe, Hooker; grandchildren, Dana Tollison and Dale, Jeremy Kennedy, Joshua Kennedy and Jennifer, Paul Christian Gawith, Timothy Gawith, Maegan Gawith, Kylee Whipple and Anna Whipple; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kenyon, Kase, Jaden, Olivia and Jackson; and great-great-grandson, Lennox.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chester Kennedy; and sisters, Luella Kennedy and Ninetta Ransey.
• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, with Odie Nunley presiding.
Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery.
