• Special to the Daily Leader
Enjoy a wine tasting and raise funds for the Seward County United Way on Tuesday, April 20, at Ruffino’s Restaurant, 2 Rock Island Road. The tasting, from 7 to 9 p.m., will include at least 12 wines and light hors d’ouvres. Sponsored by Ruffino’s Italian Restaurant and Rafter J Liquor, the wine tasting will provide funds to the Seward County United Way and the 28 local agencies it supports.
“This is a new event for us,” said Kay Burtzloff, executive director of the Seward County United Way, “ and we appreciate the support from Ruffino’s and Rafter J Liquor. If you enjoy trying wines or if you just want to see what a wine tasting is all about, this will be a fun event to attend.”
Tickets are $20 and are available at Ruffino’s, the reception desk at First National Bank’s main branch, 1700 N. Lincoln, or by calling 624-5400.
The 28 agencies being funded by the Seward County United Way in 2010 include the American Red Cross, Arthritis Foundation, Big Brother/Big Sister, Boy Scouts, Crossroads, Girl Scouts, Homecare Inc. (Liberal Food Cupboard), Kansas Children’s Service League, Kansas Legal Services, KIDS Inc., Liberal Area Rape Crisis & Domestic Violence Services, Liberal Care Center, Liberal Latchkey, Liberal Weissel Boxing Club, LINK, Parents and Children Together (PACT), Salvation Army, Senior Citizen Friendship Meals, Seward County Safety Council, Seward County Senior Care, Seward County Veterans Services, SKADAF (Drug and Alcohol Treatment), Smart Start, Stepping Stone Shelter, Southwest Aquatics Team, Southwest Guidance Center, United Cerebral Palsy and the Whirlwind Career Counseling and Guidance Center.
