Helen L Edwards, 92, formerly of Liberal, passed away July 12, 2014.
Helen was born on January 11, 1922 in Louisville, KY to William and Lillian Baumgardner. She moved to Liberal in 1943 where she started a family and helped run Higgins Construction. Helen enjoyed sewing, traveling, socializing, music and dancing. She loved children but special needs kids held a special place in her heart.
There is a long awaited celebration going on in Heaven as Helen is finally reunited with her parents; son, Skippy Higgins; husband, Leo Edwards; sister and brother-in-law, June and Kenny House; and niece and nephew-in-law, Donna Sue and Bob Gribble.
Helen is survived by her great-nephew, Jeffrey Gribble of Joplin, MO; great-niece, Holly Bennish and husband, David, and their kids Lindsey, Michael, Matthew and Christopher, all of Carl Junction, MO; step-daughter, Carol Pennington and husband, Don, and their daughter Kelli, all of Derby, KS; and a host of extended family and friends who will all miss her sweet and feisty nature.
• As per Helen's wishes, she has been cremated and there are no formal services planned. She and her sister June will be taken to Kentucky for burial at a later date.
